Dogs are taught a variety of calming exercises, sometimes with clicker training and gradually settle in close proximity of their triggers without reacting. Our courses help your excitable or reactive dog learn how to remain calm in the presence of these triggers. Dogs might be more sensitive to other dogs, strangers or children etc perhaps becoming too excited, nervous, defensive, aggressive with lunging and barking. They are for dogs who need more space, and we have a maximum of four dogs in the group. These courses aim to create a calm environment for dogs who may be more sensitive to certain things in the busy urban environment. Your dog will be taught more challenging tasks: long distance stays, emergency stop, middle, heelwork, and other fun obedience-type excercises. This course is for dogs who have completed a Puppy training or Foundation course. Dogs will learn sit, stay, settle, recall, find it, leave, retrieve and nice lead walking. And we will reinforce and enhance any training you may already have done. The coursesuits dogs with no previous training. This course is for dogs over 5 months old and has a similar content to the puppy training course. There are opportunities for supervised play with other puppies and help with acclimatising to other puppies and people. We teach the basics in a practical way: such as sit, stay, recall, on your bed, fetch and nice lead walking. The training is based on positive reinforcement operant conditioning methods. The theory will help you understand your puppy’s behaviour, increase patience and calmness, consider how dogs learn.
